Internationalizing Nordic and Baltic Teacher Training in Visual Arts and Craft Education (continued)
The second project period (2025-2026) of “Internationalizing Nordic and Baltic Teacher Training in Visual Arts and Craft Education”engages students in the development work so that the roadmap also serves student-driven activities and enhances students’ ownership in EDDA. This includes developing ideas for joint summer courses and expanding student exchange and internships opportunities through EDDA network.

2024-2025
Internationalizing Nordic and Baltic Teacher Training in Visual Arts and Craft Education
The goal of this development project was to establish a sustainable model for Nordic and Baltic collaboration that allows EDDA Norden network members to integrate international collaboration into the yearly cycle of their study programs. To reach this goal, the project sets out to map the past and present status of visual art and craft teacher training programs in Nordic and Baltic countries.
The project strengthened the network members’ understanding of their own programs (including their aims and contents) as well as each other’s. During the project, the participants also acquired a better understanding of the possibilities and limitations for international collaboration in teacher training programs.
The project set to provide a comprehensive overview of visual art and craft teacher education in Nordic and Baltic countries today and a jointly developed roadmap to build a strong and innovative vision for Nordic and Baltic visual art and craft teacher education in the future.
The key outcomes to of the project were:
Houses: A visual and textual representation of each partner university meant to convey relevant information about the university to other network partners.
Fleamarket: An online forum where partner universities can share activities, courses, and other possibilities for collaboration with all network partners.
Roadmap: A vision for future development of visual arts and craft education in the Nordic and Baltic countries.

2021-2022
3D Modelling in Visual Arts Education
The development project was primarily linked to visual arts teacher education in the partner institutions, secondly to teaching visual arts in primary and secondary schools. The project aim was to explore the learning potentials in 3D sculpting for art teachers. The project activities aimed at overcoming the focus on technological implications of the 3D practices and instead study the sculptural qualities from using the technology artistically as well as looking at the didactic implementation. The aim for the participants was to integrate the outcome of the project in their teaching planning activities for visual arts teacher education connected to subject didactic planning and teaching. The project was organized as a combination of online instructions, offline activities and online discussion forums. The theoretical framework is based on insights from studies in computational thinking in visual arts education, and visual culture studies. Further the project was aiming at improving the participants image-making competence within sculpturing and 3D technology through the use of the program TinkerCad.
